Perth Museum

The museum is excellent. And there is a nice area with pubs and restaurants around to have food and drinks. Worth a stop in Perth to enjoy the museum.

The museum possesses a notable collection of artefacts, and the Stone of Destiny was a surprising but welcome addition. However, the signage throughout the facility could be improved. Additionally, referring to donated items as "loot" without supporting evidence is inappropriate. The World War II section seems to overemphasize female figures in the war and does not adequately reflect the war's impact on Perth. The Stone of Destiny experience was great, but again far to much focus on the students who stole it and a lack if it's history and legend. Overall, the presentation lacks focus, coherence, and a balanced perspective.

Cafe review. Nice big space, it is very light and calming. Tables not too close together. Scones are a good size and nice. Only criticism is that if the server didn't tell me it was a cheese scone I wouldn't be able to tell!! Don't think there was cheese in the scone and minimal cheese on top. Scones served with butter and wee glass jar of jam. Nice big pot of tea, although my friend didn't think it was very hot. 2 teas, 2 scones £12.75

Went to see the Knife Angel and the stone of destiny, but ended up seeing a lot more. Lots of interesting things connected to Perth and the surrounding area. The cafe was excellent, I had stovies with delicous local oat cakes, partner had the humous and roast vegetable sandwich and said it was also very good. Definately worth a visit as entry is free, although you need to book to see the stone as they can only let so many in at a time. Loved how the paneled wall disapears when the video starts. (Yes, I'm easily pleased)

Lovely cafe, food very reasonable and tasty. Staff were very helpful and a nice wee gift shop. Fascinating place. Need to get tickets for Stone of Destiny but we didn't have a long wait to see it. Also free. Very informative film on the history/myth of the stone.

Some interesting local history but very little on the significance of Perth to Scottish history. According to the Museum Scotland was an invention of the 19th century

Spent a good couple of hours exploring the museum on Thursday. One of my highlights was definitely the section on the Picts, especially the stone with the wonderful lights & animations. The special exhibition, Waters Rising, is fantastic. And I really really enjoyed The Stone of Destiny experience. It's a lovely, well made introduction to the history & legend of the stone. The shop is good too 😉

Wonderful, well presented museum with a huge variety of interesting exhibits for the whole family. My 3 year old adored the taxidermy animals with its interactive buttons and sound effects as well as the microscope he could use. An amazing resource to enjoy, and free to enter too! We will be back 😊
